The Café Au Lait Royal dahlia features massive, dinner-plate-sized blooms that can reach up to 25 centimetres in diameter. Dahlia Clumps – How They Work

A Dahlia clump is a cluster of Dahlia tubers that grow together, producing multiple plants from a single clump. Each clump contains several tubers and, when planted, will produce an average of 2–10 healthy Dahlia plants (depending on variety and growing conditions).
We sell these clumps ready for planting, providing an easy and efficient way to create a beautiful, full display of Dahlias in your garden.
Tip: You can divide your clumps if you’d like to plant tubers separately for more individual plants—there are several helpful videos on YouTube showing how to do this. If you prefer, you can plant the whole clump for a single, big, strong plant.

Top Tips for Planting Dahlia Clumps
________________________________________ 1. Site & Sunlight Plant in a full sun position (6–8+ hours daily) with well-draining soil to prevent rot and encourage strong growth. 2. Planting Time Plant when night temperatures are consistently above 10–12°C (generally from September in most parts of South Africa). 3. Planting Method Place clumps horizontally about 10 cm deep and 40 cm apart. Position the growing eyes facing upwards and cover lightly with soil, ensuring no air pockets. 4. Soil & Watering at Planting Plant into moist soil. Avoid waterlogged or completely dry soil. Maintain consistent moisture until shoots emerge. 5. Watering After Emergence Once green growth appears, increase watering gradually. Allow the soil to dry slightly between watering, but never completely dry out. 6. Support (Netting Essential) Install netting early (often 2 layers) to support upright growth, prevent bending, and ensure even plant structure and yield. 7. Pinching Pinch plants once they reach ±30 cm to encourage bushier growth and more flowers. 8. Spacing Allow ±40 cm spacing between plants for good airflow and healthy development. 9. Fertilising & Protection Use fertiliser and Plant Protection Products (PPP) as per programme guidelines. Apply only to dry plants and avoid tank mixing incompatible products. 10.
