Sow directly into germination trays with a germination mix. Cover seeds 3mm deep. Keep moist till germinated. Plant out after 4-6 weeks. Once plants are 20cm tall, remove lower leaves. Repeat 3 or 4 times as the plants grow taller. 15cm spacing between plants is vital if a bigger spacing is given the plants will grow too big

Harvest when the leaves are about the size of your hand. Pick about a fistful of outer leaves per harvest, but no more than one-third of the plant at one time. Avoid picking the terminal bud (at the top centre of the plant), which helps to maintain the plant's productivity
